Light and shade
Yesterday I went out to play in the sun with some fellow photographers.
It’s always interesting to see how different photographers interpret the same models and locations differently. And a bit of friendly rivalry is great for keeping you on your toes and continually improving what you do. We found an unexpected oasis in Birmingham city centre to experiment with some new ideas.
It was soooo hot but the sunny weather gave us the perfect opportunity to play with light and shadows. Shooting in harsh sunlight can be risky and most photographers would be silently screaming if it was this sunny on a wedding day but used carefully (to avoid shadows in the wrong places) it can also be great fun creatively.
First up is Ellie… since shadows are about light and dark, I had a bit of a black & white moment processing these…
And never mind the rule about always having your subject looking into the photograph … I like the tension caused in this shot by Ellie looking away from her reflection; it’s full of attitude … I bet her parents love that!
And Laura donned a wedding dress for some super stylish shots…
