The big ‘L’
Good news … I’ve been awarded the qualification of LMPA and am now a fully qualified member of the Master Photographers’ Association (MPA). So I’m now officially a proper photographer! LOL
The MPA, the leading trade association in the photographic world, prides itself on the quality of its members. It was established over 50 years ago and is unique in that it only admits full-time, professional photographers to its ranks; all of whom have to adhere to strict professional guidelines and go through a rigorous assessment of their work. So yesterday was the big day and I was quite nervous to say the least. It doesn’t matter how confident you are in your work, when you’re in front of a panel of 6 of the UKs finest, your knees knock! I didn’t take much in but suffice to say I passed! And I had some really lovely feedback on my work (blushes ;0)) which was nice.
Here’s my submission. [The panel of assessors look for a thorough understanding of camera techniques, lighting, posing, direction of the subject, composition and, of course, the ability to deliver quality photography.]
You can read more about the benefits of using an MPA member on the MPA website

The most romantic day of the year
On Valentine’s Day I had the pleasure of sharing James and Elena’s wedding at Rushton Hall, quite possibly one of the most romantic venues to choose for a Valentine’s Day wedding. And here it is in it’s snowy glory with snowdrops out to boot …
Elena’s little models Oliver and Angela looked adorable …
The stunning couple …
Elena and her brother arriving at Rushton Hall …
Making a big entrance …
All loved up …
I’d been rather worried in the days before their wedding as we’d had so much snow but luckily the worst had cleared by then, though there was still enoughin places for a romantic snowy portrait …
It has to be said that I love all the details at weddings. And this fairytale cake was a delight …

Snow much fun ;0)
I had a wedding consultation at Rushton Hall last Monday morning and decided to have a walk in the grounds afterwards. I shoot there a lot and wanted to look at things with a fresh pair of eyes to get some new ideas. I like to keep my work fresh and give every client something different.
So as I’m walking along up to my knees in snow I think to myself … wouldn’t it be fun to do a bridal shoot in the snow?! So within an hour (well, had to be done before the snow melted LOL) I had the location, a hair & make-up artist, a shooting partner (yes, he thought I was totally insane!), some dresses … and hmmmm … still need the important bit – a model! After a couple of hours of wondering whether this was too much to pull off so quickly, this social networking thing paid off and I had not one, but two models!
We had a great time on the day. It was freezing cold but the girls did great, not one complaint.
Some of my faves …
Many thanks to Robyn, Lisa, Claire and Rushton Hall :0)
