Del & Beccy – pre-wedding shoot

I had something of a pre-wedding shoot frenzy last week which started at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park with Del and Beccy. Like most couples Del and Beccy felt rather nervous about the shoot but I think they worked the camera really well. Some faves …

Have a look at the complete gallery here (you’ll need the password from Del or Beccy)

Wettest wedding award

My camera and I got very wet but I was as happy as a toddler in wellies jumping in puddles shooting Adam and Wendy’s wedding. It was wet, very wet. My wettest so far in fact. The rain didn’t stop at all, not for a minute. But it really didn’t matter, not least for Adam or Wendy who seemed to be having a ball.

We got off to a good start with 17 pictures of Wendy’s Jimmy Choos LOL.  Only a shoe-lover would understand why you need Choos under a long dress. And it was indeed a very wise investment – I photographed Wendy and her Dad as they walked up the path to the church, in pouring rain, dress hitched up, Dad valiantly carrying the brolly and Wendy’s bouquet, to cries from Wendy of ‘you can see my shoes!’

The Groom’s choice of transport to the church was always going to be an important decision as Adam is a motoring writer. So, a Porsche it was. It was also very fitting that the table favours for the male guests were toy cars and the band for the evening was called ‘Airbag’! The girls had Molton Brown lavender sleep mist which was chosen to match the pink and lavender colour scheme. Wendy is incredibly thorough with the most amazing attention to detail – even her toes were perfectly manicured in purple.

The rain didn’t stop play for the photography. We used the church doorway for group photos and I have to say a huge thanks to Best Man Dai for his help in holding brollies over the guests while I set the shots up, whipping them away at the last minute and holding one over me while I took the pictures. Adam & Wendy were troopers all day – just ignored the rain and carried on enjoying themselves. Needless to say umbrellas made a big appearance in the photos but they make great props!

A few favourites …

Bridal fashion shoot at Rushton Hall part 2

Here’s the second set of photographs from my bridal fashion shoot with Fairytale Weddings at Rushton Hall.

I found Sarah on the internet – she’s a multi-talented actress/singer/dancer/model and wanted some bridal shots to add to her modelling portfolio. Look her up on myspace.

‘Paris’ by Ian Stuart is a very theatrical dress, fitted past the hips, a wowzers bow at the top of the train and lots of lace and ruching.

Portraits in ‘Paris’! Love the Marilyn Monroe hair and natural window light in these. And I couldn’t resist capturing a laugh. Models aren’t supposed to laugh y’know LOL

‘Demi’ by Constantina is a platinum grey and has quite a vintage feel. It’s a big dress so only big impactful hair would cut it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bow which Toni whipped up in minutes.

Sarah worked vintage effortlessly in Jenny Packham’s ‘Trinity’. Finger waves and a loosely tied chignon finished the look beautifully. This would look as good on the beach as in the grand surroundings of Rushton Hall.

Bridal fashion shoot at Rushton Hall part 1

Gorgeous designer wedding dresses from Fairytale Weddings + two fab models + stunning wedding venue Rushton Hall + uber creative stylist Toni Perryman = one very happy photographer :0)

I wanted to go all-out glamour for this shoot and the luxury of Rushton Hall suited the dresses perfectly. It was a full day’s shoot and I still didn’t manage to exhaust the possibilities of Rushton Hall. It’s the most amazing place for photography. I shoot at Rushton Hall quite often so it was nice to have the luxury of time (which you don’t have at a wedding) to look around with a fresh pair of eyes. The opportunity to try new things isn’t an option on a client’s wedding day so it was great to really challenge myself and try something different.

I need to say a massive “thank you” to my models – Daisy and Sarah – who were so patient with all the dress and hair changes, and my constant faffing to get things just so.

First up is Daisy. If you’ve been to Fairytale Weddings you may recognise Daisy but if not, go see their gowns, they’re to die-for.

This dress is ‘Dakota’ by Constantina. I really love the mix of natural and ambient light in the first shot. And the very Hollywood pose. The second shot is lit with a video light, using barn doors to create the pool of light.

This is ‘Fortuna’ by Ian Stuart. This is a simple corridor but I was drawn in by all the lines. Plenty of swooshing from Daisy and big hair to match the big dress made a cool shot.

Here’s ‘Marie Louise’ by Jenny Packham. Her dresses are beautifully fluid and have wonderful movement when you walk. Looks equally good in the bath LOL. I had to crawl into the fireplace to get far enough back for this shot!

‘Marie Louise’ again. Veils can make such a difference to your look. Even for a simple slim fitting gown. A vintage hair-band and finger waves suit this dress perfectly.

Happy Fathers’ Day

So, a post about the Father of the Bride to mark Fathers’ Day :O)

There are so many big moments for a Dad at his daughter’s wedding.

The first is when he sees you walk through the door or down the stairs, looking absolutely stunning, for the last time as a single lady. This is the moment that really hits home that his little girl is all grown-up.

Father of the Bride

The moments between leaving for the ceremony and walking down the aisle is probably the only time you’ll spend with your Dad all day, so make the most of it.

Father of the Bride

In times when women didn’t have many personal rights, the Bride was literally given away to the Groom by her father, usually for payment. Although ‘giving away’ rituals aren’t part of every wedding ceremony now, it’s still seen as symbolic support for the Bride and shows trust and affection for the Groom.

Father of the Bride

The first speech is traditionally made by the Father of the Bride. Dads’ speeches usually raise a few smiles with his stories of the Bride as a little girl and the first time he met the Groom …
