Happy Fathers’ Day
So, a post about the Father of the Bride to mark Fathers’ Day :O)
There are so many big moments for a Dad at his daughter’s wedding.
The first is when he sees you walk through the door or down the stairs, looking absolutely stunning, for the last time as a single lady. This is the moment that really hits home that his little girl is all grown-up.
The moments between leaving for the ceremony and walking down the aisle is probably the only time you’ll spend with your Dad all day, so make the most of it.
In times when women didn’t have many personal rights, the Bride was literally given away to the Groom by her father, usually for payment. Although ‘giving away’ rituals aren’t part of every wedding ceremony now, it’s still seen as symbolic support for the Bride and shows trust and affection for the Groom.
The first speech is traditionally made by the Father of the Bride. Dads’ speeches usually raise a few smiles with his stories of the Bride as a little girl and the first time he met the Groom …
