Ollie & Gemma’s military wedding
Ollie and Gemma’s wedding was perfect in every way. I had the best time photographing their day. They’re such a beautiful couple and absolutely adore each other. It really was a pleasure.
It was a military wedding which always has some unique photo opportunities. Exiting the church through a Guard of Honour is such an iconic moment. So when I met with Ollie and Gemma at our pre-wedding planning meeting I suggested that we ask all their guests to line the path after the Guard and throw confetti as they made their exit as husband and wife. I had the shots I wanted in mind and with all the military briefings that went on in the church before the ceremony ‘Operation Confetti’ came nicely together!
The sun shone all day but there were some blustery moments. Gemma and Ollie were knelt at the altar for the prayers, when the biggest gust of wind came through the door from the right and blew Gemma’s veil completely horizontal! Good job the pins held securely! Gemma also had a fight on her hands as they walked down the guest lined church path but carried it off in style.Veils and wind are a fabulous combination for injecting some life into your wedding photographs.
Needless to say I had fun shooting lots of details. Claire Bradford’s floristry was amazing. And kudos to Ollie & Gemma (and their families) for hand-crafting all the wedding stationery!
The speeches didn’t disappoint either. Gemma’s Dad delivered the most moving Father of the Bride’s speech I’ve had the pleasure to hear. All the speeches were great actually. Ollie’s was very heart-felt and Charlie, Ollie’s Best Man, had everyone in stitches!
A swing band ended the celebrations in style. And some sunset shots ended the photography in style.

GREAT series of shots Sarah, you’ve captured the day beautifully. I adore your black and white conversions as well, brilliantly done.
Jonny.
What absolutely super pictures of a truly happy and wonderful day! I’m going to have to exercise great restraint and not bankrupt us by buying them all.
Fantastic photos. Love the mix of images and the way you captured the magic of the day.
