Engagement photography – Daniela & Derek

I thoroughly enjoyed Derek and Daniela’s pre-wedding photo shoot. We met at their reception venue – Rushton Hall, a fabulous wedding venue near Kettering in Northamptonshire. It was great to catch up and hear all about their wedding plans as well as break the proverbial ice with a pre-wedding shoot. Daniela tried to tell me that they were nervous about the shoot. I’m having none of it! They were pros. So much so that in all the photographs I took, there wasn’t one shot with a blink or strange expression from either of them. That’s never happened before. I was totally impressed. And absolutely cannot wait for their wedding. It’s going to be awesome.

Engagement photography – Ben & Amy

The sun shone brightly for Ben and Amy’s pre wedding portrait shoot last Sunday but flip it was cold! Amy brought a splash of colour to the shoot with a gorgeous red jacket which suited the surroundings perfectly. We had to do lots of cuddling poses for warmth and my fingers were that cold I struggled to even get my memory cards out of their holder, let alone into my camera! But we gritted our teeth and braved it to produce some fab photos.

Baby photography – Rory

Meet baby Rory. A handsome little lad.

Rory is the second son of Miranda, who I met on the photography course that, unbeknown to me at the time, changed my life. It was this course that inspired me to leave my corporate career behind and set up my own business. So it was lovely to catch up with Miranda again and meet the newest member of the Walton family.

Here’s Rory at just two weeks old …

Album eye candy – baby Tom

Here’s a finished client album to have a nose at.

It’s an 8×8″ Finao black leather album – these are fab albums and perfect for portrait shoots. This particular album uses a very minimalistic one photo per page, on a white background with a black keyline. You see a narrow black border (the base page) around the edges which pulls everything together really nicely. It works especially well for my penchance for black and white baby photography.

Northampton wedding venue shoot at Kelmarsh Hall

Kelmarsh Hall is one of Northamptonshire’s finest wedding venues and I love it there. It’s a dream venue for a wedding photographer as there are so many gorgeous spots to use for photographs. The interior architecture and backgrounds are really interesting with lots of lovely natural light. The gardens are beautiful too.

As a recommended photographer at Kelmarsh I was asked along to create some photographs for their new wedding brochure. I spent a day shooting, but honestly, I could have spent two! There really is so much to work with.

Above, the view as you arrive.

The Great Hall is the first room you see as you enter the Hall and wow, what an entrance! It’s very elegant with Italian pink walls and beautiful plasterwork detailing on the walls and ceiling.

The Ballroom is used for wedding breakfasts and has amazing views over the lake.

The Chinese room has the most delightful wallpaper and trinkets. I had great fun looking at all the little scenes in the wallpaper.

The library is full of lovely details too. I particularly liked the hidden door handle in the false door.

The staircase is really something else with the large window, gorgeous chandelier and mirrors.

If you’re looking for a wedding venue I’d highly recommend Kelmarsh Hall. It’s just stunning.
