‘Alice in Wonderland’ bridal fashion shoot part 2: The Red Queen

After the pure girliness of yesterday’s tea party pictures I thought the all out drama of The Red Queen was in order.

Kelmarsh Hall is a really versatile venue with lots of different backgrounds and oodles of lovely natural light everywhere. A dream venue! Sometimes the best background isn’t the most obvious though and I just had to find a way to use the black and white floor tiles.

Ian Stuart’s dress ‘Muse’ is simple yet striking and the height of the matching jacket gives it a very regal feel. A big sparkly red heart ring, cheeky heart-shaped lipstick and make-up, that quite frankly scared me, made a strking, if not typically bridal, look. And the giant playing cards were a fun flourish.

For the photos on the floor I had my camera on my monopod, on a self-timer, hoisted over my head. The photo in front of the fireplace shows off the delicate plasterwork in Kelmarsh’s Great Hall – I love architectural details like this as they really help frame an image. And besides, if you’ve chosen a wedding venue like this, it simply has to be shown off in the photographs.
