‘Alice in Wonderland’ bridal fashion shoot part 3: Alice
Alice. Polite, sweet and ever so curious.
Alice’s character was a strong influence on the posing for these shots. The turned in toes, shape of the wrist and hands, the attentive angle of the head and direction of the eyes are small details but have a huge impact on the feeling of a photograph.
Sasha wore ‘Jet Set’ – an Ian Stuart gown. The cute tea length was perfect for Alice and I styled it up with blue accents in the bouquet, shoes and make-up. I wanted something quirky and striking for the hair and make-up. Toni interpreted this so well with strong blue eyes and ‘is it curly or is it straight’ hair. Not your every day bridal look but you can see how the idea of adding blue accents to outfits could bring this theme to life for a real wedding.
I found a great clock that reminded me of a giant version of the White Rabbit’s pocketwatch. I directed Sasha to pretend it was a handbag for one of the shots and for another as if she was the hook on which the clock hung. The front door of Kelmarsh Hall and the entrance to the gardens were perfect spots for Alice’s ‘exploring’ (played brilliantly by Sasha!). And with such fabulous hair and make-up I then zoomed in for some closer beauty shots, using the surrounding greenery and some brightly coloured mushrooms to give some foreground interest and add depth to the photographs.
