A Higham Ferrers wedding – Aaron & Lindsay

The 29th April 2011 wasn’t all about the Royal Wedding. It was Aaron and Lindsay’s big day too.

I got to know Aaron through twitter I think; he’s also a wedding photographer. So no pressure then.

And there really wasn’t. Aaron and Lindsay were totally relaxed all day, lived in the moment and just enjoyed every one of those moments.

The ceremony was held at St Mary’s church in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire. And then the reception was at The Courtyard in Stanwick, just 5 minutes from the church.

It was a beautiful Spring wedding: tulip bouquets, Easter egg favours and a lovely sunny day. There were trees full of blossom in the church grounds which were perfect to get a Spring feel into the Bride & Groom portraits.  And then once at the reception everyone just enjoyed being out in the sunshine.

You can see more photos from this wedding on my facebook page. And read more here about how Aaron and Lindsay shared their wedding date with William and Catherine.

Client review | Robert & Sarah

American couple Robert and Sarah came to the UK, Sarah’s homeland, for a church blessing and reception at Holdenby House. I had a great time getting to know and working with them. Sarah had this to say…

“Sarah, I just had to stop by and tell you how grateful Robert and I are for the wonderful, WONDERFUL pictures you took for our bride and groom photo session as well as our blessing day! From the moment I first saw your pictures I absolutely loved your work, and now, I feel truly blessed to have some gorgeous pictures of my own! …But it wasn’t just how beautiful our pictures turned out, it was also how comfortable you made us feel. We felt like ourselves throughout the shoot, not posed or too formal, and we had such a great time shooting with you that we are already eager to have another photo session with you! Sarah, your work is absolutely stunning and we are so glad we had the chance to work with you! We will definitely be back in the U.K. just so we can have another photo session! Thank you so much!”

Bridal fashion photography at a vintage railway station

My mum always told me not to play on train tracks. Last week I did just that!

On a long car journey a photographer friend and I cooked up a plan to do a photo shoot at a vintage train station. It was just something we wanted to do. After all, play time is important – to develop your work and for the soul.

So between us we organised a model, dresses, a hair and make-up artist and of course a fabulous location. Some other photography nuts joined us for the shoot. There’s nothing that makes you think more than the friendly rivalry of a group of other photographers shooting alongside you!

We had a great day. Model Gabby was just brilliant. Sweet sixteen and as composed as a highly composed thing. Even when a steam train went thundering past billowing smoke, encasing her in steam and covering us all with soot! The driver, obviously put out that she wasn’t paying any attention to the train’s arrival, then pipped the whistle so hard we all jumped. Cue child-like giggles all round.

Here are some favourites. It’s not normally my thing to put a vintage toning on my pictures but it seemed to suit the occasion, so a few of these have a different look.

Holdenby House wedding open day

Holdenby House held it’s first wedding open day this weekend. It was a busy afternoon with lots of newly engaged couples coming along to have a look at the venue, set up ready for a wedding, and to chat to Holdenby’s preferred suppliers. It was an elegant but very relaxed occasion, with lots of chatter and glasses of bubbly.

Portfolio Events and Julie Anna Flowers had created some stunning dinner displays. I loved the use of coloured glass to complement the flowers. Such a stylish look.

And of course, where would we be without Hockleys? Cake samples were in plentiful supply and as mouthwatering as usual. I’m easily bribed.

Thank you to all those couples who stopped by to chat. It was great to speak with you. And if you haven’t booked yet, don’t leave it too long as 2012 is booking fast.

Family portraits – Cliff, Beth and Jack

I spent a lovely Sunday morning capturing some family photos for Cliff and Beth last week, whose wedding I photographed almost two years ago now. It was great to see them again and to meet their new son Jack too.

One of the things that sticks in my memory about Beth is her beautiful smile. A smile which Jack has clearly inherited! He’s such a happy little chap and it was lovely to hear him giggling so much.
