Kelmarsh Hall wedding photos – Mike & Estelle

Some of you might recognise Estelle; she’s the Events Coordinator at Kelmarsh Hall. And she married her beau, Mike, at Kelmarsh just before Easter.

I work at Kelmarsh Hall a lot and have got to know the staff there quite well. So between the guests and those that were working that day it was like being amongst family to photograph this wedding. I had a great time.

Estelle looked beautiful in a pale gold gown from Donna Salado and had chosen really a rich, sumptuous deep red colour scheme with fresh white tulips.

The ceremony was lovely. The Saloon has really tall windows from which the light floods in. So a spot at the front of the room for photography is about as perfect as it gets. I can get some beautifully lit, intimate moments between the Bride and Groom as well as pictures of the guests looking on from that position. And I’m pleased to say that the Northamptonshire registrars are becoming much more lenient about the photography that they allow during the ceremony.

My favourite moment of the day was when Mike and Estelle walked back down the aisle to ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ by Stevie Wonder. Loved that choice! If I hadn’t had to focus a camera I’d have been singing along with them!

Enjoy these few highlights and feel free to have a look at a fuller set on my facebook fanpage.

Coming to a TV screen near you…

Right now I think I’d describe this as one of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time!

Last October I had a call from WeddingTV. Once I’d established that it wasn’t in fact a sales call (I didn’t make that job easy for them!) and that they were actually calling to see if I would take part in a new TV series they were working on, I may have jumped up and down a little. How exciting! My TV debut!

And then the nerves started to set in. What would I wear? What should I say? Oh flip, got to go on a diet! What if I stuttered, umm’d and aah’d too much? I’ve had media training in the past and done countless radio interviews (I mean, I definitely have a face for radio!) but this was my first foray into TV and I was pretty much laying eggs.

So after a perfectly timed holiday in the sun (not that you can tell from the show, so glad I had some colour to start with!) I had two very long (that would be 17 hour long) days of filming with the WeddingTV crew at Hedsor House, in Buckinghamshire.

I battled deep and heavily falling snow to get there. I melted under the frankly huge, headache inducing lights. And I was so nervous I kept forgetting what I was saying. But as the filming progressed it got easier and I had a really great time. I met some amazing people and laughed lots. The days may have been long but the time flew by. And by the end I wanted to do more.

Since then I’ve pushed the fact that I’m going to be on national TV, without the benefit of Photoshop to make me look better, right to the back of my mind. The very back. I almost convinced myself that was it and no-one would ever see it! Then today I watched the trailer. Eeeek-o-rama!

So, about the show …

It’s called ‘Bridal Boudoir’. Each week a troubled bride-to-be enters the Bridal Boudoir house where a team of experts in hair, make-up, photography and bridal styling are waiting to help.

The show will run for 12 weeks, from 10th May, 10pm. I’ll be on four episodes:

Episode 1: 10th May

Episode 6: 14th June

Episode 9: 5th July

Episode 12: 26th July

Don’t worry, I’ll remind you when the time comes ;)

Wedding photography round-up | April

Royal Wedding photos

My goodness me. It’s been an amazing month to be working in the wedding industry. I’ve loved every minute from the electrical storm of camera flashes that was the engagement announcement to the really rather fun Aston Martin get-away. I wouldn’t consider myself a Royalist, normally I’d hardly bat an eyelid at what they do, but this has all been so exciting and say what you like, I’ve been proud to celebrate being British.

And celebrate being British is just what we did on my Britannia inspired ‘red, white & blue’ bridal fashion shoot. On the big day itself I photographed Aaron and Lindsay’s wedding with a few pictures taken in honour of the Royal wedding (should the T, R & W all be capitalised?!).

Also to get married this month were Mike and Estelle, at Kelmarsh Hall. I’ll be sharing pictures from their wedding later this week. And there’s been a flurry of pre-wedding portrait sessions as well: Richard & Emma, Ian & Kristy, Paul & Sam and Mark & Emily.

In other news I had my hair cut short (now a third of its previous length, eeek!) and hubs did himself proud running the London marathon in blazing hot sunshine. Oh yeah, and I was stood next to Richard Branson for 5 minutes before I realised, wondering why everyone was coming up behind me and taking pictures in the wrong direction of the race! Honestly, a celeb would have to slap me in the face with a wet fish before I’d know who they were.

So quite how May is going to fair after the excitement of April I don’t know.

After all the glamour and elegance of the last few weeks I’ll be doing a portrait shoot in an abandoned print factory. And because I can’t go without a bit of pretty for very long I’ll be shooting at a vintage railway station too.

I’ll be back at Holdenby House for Brett and Katie’s pre-wedding shoot. I had a ball the last time I was there and have a few ‘head in the clouds’ ideas for them. I hope they’re ready for it! I’ll also be meeting up with Bradley and Jenni for their pre-wedding shoot and with previous wedding clients Cliff and Beth for some family photos. I’m very excited to catch up with them and to meet their new son Jack.

I’ll be getting my wedding fix this month from Paul & Sam and from Richard & Emma. Both weddings will be at venues I haven’t photographed at before. I like working in new places. It makes me think more.

And there are gorgeous albums to be created too.

Goodness, best get cracking …

à bientôt x
