Stoke Rochford Hall wedding photography – Richard & Emma
Rain was forecast for Richard & Emma’s wedding and the clouds threatened all day. But the sunshine won through and we had a beautifully sunny afternoon. It was a touch blustery though and there were many fun moments when the wind took Emma’s long veil, tying her and anyone nearby in knots.
Emma looked stunning in a Stewart Parvin gown, ‘Luck be a Lady’ from The Bridal Gallery Finedon, and was the picture of elegance as she walked down the aisle. After the church ceremony we headed to Stoke Rochford Hall, near Grantham in Lincolnshire, for the reception.
Emma has recently set up her own venue styling business, EliBows, and was styling her own wedding, so I was prepared for something special and knew photographing the details would be important to her. I was blown away by how beautiful the Library looked all set-up for dinner.
The white linens and chair covers made a great canvas for the fresh white flowers and the purple accents. Asymmetrically-tied chair sashes were gathered at the back with a brooch. A detail which was carried through onto the cake and bouquets.
The cake table was set up beautifully too, with a lace cloth disguising the cake stand and framed photographs of each of their parents cutting their own wedding cakes.
Table numbers were also lovingly framed and each place setting had its own menu (a work of art in itself), tucked into the napkin and a ribboned box with a gift inside.
On the fireplaces were vases with floating candles which looked really pretty reflecting in the mirrors as the light faded. And an idea which I loved was the fish-bowls on the top table, swirled with bear grass and filled with water, ready for Emma and her Bridesmaids to put their bouquets into. A great way to save on your top table flowers!
Below are a few favourites. And there’s more on my facebook fanpage too.

Rushton Hall wedding photos – Dave & Holly
Dave and Holly’s wedding took me to a truly beautiful part of the Rutland countryside. Their ceremony was held at St Peter’s church in Barrowden which overlooks mile after mile of rolling countryside. We were half expecting the sheep to start baa’ing when the Vicar asked if anyone present had any objections to the marriage! And it was such a lovely setting that we split the formal photos between the church and the reception so that we could really make the most of both locations.
After the church we headed off to Rushton Hall near Kettering in Northamptonshire for the reception. A firm favourite and regular venue for me. A wedding here usually comes with a request for my signature lake and front entrance Bride & Groom photos. I love those two spots (as well as the staircases) and try to make the pictures at least a little different for each couple.
Holly chose a purple colour scheme with pretty butterflies carried through from her hairpiece and bouquet to the cake and table settings. Purple is by far the most popular colour scheme at the moment. And a very good choice – I had purple too!
As always there’s some more photos from this wedding on my facebook page

A lovely surprise
So yesterday afternoon I was on facebook. No surprise there. Not. at. all.
I was idly scrolling through (I don’t read everything. Honest, guv) and got to a post by one of my Bride’s who writes a blog called ‘The Making of a Mrs’. Great name, huh? She’d posted, not unusually, a link to her latest blog post – 5 things before kids. I like lists so thought I’d check it out.
Imagine me now, starting to read through, mug of tea in hand, whiling away a few minutes as a break from retouching. The intro had me hooked. I go on to read item 1 – get a Masters degree. And item 2 – buy a house. Both BIG life changing things to tick off. Item 3 – revisit England. Sarah lives in the US but is originally from the UK. That’s no small trip. Then item 4 – ‘take another photo session with Sarah Vivienne’. Yes, that stopped me in my tracks.
I knew Sarah was pleased because she’d sent a lovely thank you note. But it’s when clients come back that you really know you got it right. My aim for any client is to create amazing photos and to provide a really enjoyable experience. I’m thrilled that Sarah was so happy with both aspects that she wants to do more. And particularly happy that she ranks it alongside buying a house and getting a degree!
Item 5, by the way, is to go to DisneyWorld. I’m totally honoured to be in a list with Mickey Mouse!
Thank you Sarah, that’s the best compliment ever! Looking forward to our next shoot already…

Engagement photos – Chris & Charlotte
Some people are born to be photographed and that’s certainly true of Chris and Charlotte.
That’s not to say they weren’t nervous; indeed they were, as much as any couple. It’s just that once we got into the shoot they were able to completely relax, be themselves and enjoy the experience. And if you can do that then you’re onto a winner.
Don’t they look completely stunning and utterly happy and in love?

Engagement photos – Mit & Ranj
Mit and Ranj are so cute together and obviously adore each other. It’s lovely to see them so relaxed and just enjoying being with each other in their photographs.
Although my work is quite carefully directed (even those pictures that might appear natural) I like to keep the experience quite laid-back so that your emotions and personalities come through.
