Marquee wedding in Whaplode, Spalding
Having a strong network of other wedding photographers who you can call on in an hour of need is important. And so I was only too happy to help out as a second photographer at the wedding of Mark & Sarah, and be on hand to take-over, for a photographer whose wife is expecting a baby at any time, in case their baby should arrive early.
And my word. I almost thought I wouldn’t make it to the church, so deep were the puddles stretching across the tiny lanes in the midst of Lincolnshire! The rain was torrential and didn’t let up all morning. Stories of the marquee field being flooded were worrying everyone. And the umbrella pile grew and grew in the church lobby as the guests arrived. Luckily the wedding car was able to drop Sarah right at the church door and the Ushers made a walkway of umbrellas for her into the church.
At the start of the ceremony the Vicar made a few announcements and joked that she didn’t think one of them would be a problem. And that was not to throw confetti outside the church! Little did she know that there would be brilliant sunshine as Mark and Sarah were pronounced husband and wife. I was blown away when the church doors opened for their exit and the sun flooded in. Hoorah!
We very quickly did the group photos and couple pictures outside the church while it was dry. As it turned out the afternoon was glorious. But I think everyone would have had a fantastic time whatever the weather.

Last episode of WeddingTV ‘Bridal Boudoir’ – watch me online
Last night’s showing of ‘Bridal Boudoir’ on WeddingTV was the last of my episodes as well the last of the series. Boooo!
This week it was Tebs’ turn to be made-over. Tebs is usually making other people feel special in her job as a beautician, so it was lovely to see her spoilt.
How glam is that gold sequin dress by Gilly Woo? Love it.

If you missed it (or want to see it again!) you can watch the last episode online here:
♥ Styling: Gilly Woo
♥ Hair: Cinta Millar
♥ Make-Up: AJ Creative
♥ Location: Hedsor House, Buckinghamshire

Engagement photos | Gavin & Michelle
I don’t think you’d know to look at these photos but Gavin and Michelle were probably one of my most nervous couples on their pre-wedding shoot. But rather than shy away they knew this was all the more reason to have a photo session before their wedding. It’s a great opportuity to have a practice and get used to being in front of the camera. We had lots of laughs along the way, which distracted them from their nervousness.
I think they photographed really well and am very much looking forward to their wedding. I’ll be back at Dodmoor House for this one, and am going for third time lucky with the weather!

Rushton Hall wedding photos | Ian & Kristy
Ian and Kristy’s wedding took me to Saint Marie’s Catholic Church in Rugby for the first time. And what a beautiful church. Impressive on the outside and stunning on the inside. I loved Kristy’s unusual choice of entrance music: Bella’s Lullaby by Carter Burwell from the film Twilight: The Score. The music through their whole day was specifically chosen to be tracks that their guests would recognise.
I started the day with Kristy and her Mum getting ready at Dunchurch Park, whilst my second photographer for the day, Stephen, was capturing the arrivals at the church.
Kristy looked fabulous in a Maggie Sottero gown and her Bridesmaids wore cute short bubble hem dresses by Coast, to which Kristy added white sashes. And the lavender in their bouquets smelt divine.
The first few moments after a couple exit the church and start greeting their guests are usually filled with emotion. Hugging, kissing, congratulating. A time for a couple to just enjoy the moment and for me to capture the atmosphere of the day without any intervention. Ian and Kristy’s church exit seemed particularly full of great moments and expressions. I found myself smiling back at the guests in these photos as I retouched them.
Then we were off to Rushton Hall, one of my favourite Northamptonshire wedding venues.
We took a walk down to the lake for the Bride and Groom photographs and then motored through the family photos in the courtyard. The courtyard is great for group photos because everyone is there for the drinks reception which means you don’t have to move your guests too far and yet there’s plenty of space.
Kristy threw her bouquet just before going in for dinner. Not many Brides do this. I might start a campaign to bring back the bouquet toss. It’s so much fun!
The wedding breakfast was in the ever impressive Great Hall. Kristy’s purple and gold colour scheme worked beautifully with the room’s rich wood panelling and gold framed portraits. It’s always good to choose colours which work with your venue.
After the speeches it was quickly into the first dance, which was a choreographed number and met with lots of cheering.
♥ Ceremony: Saint Marie’s Catholic Church, Rugby
♥ Reception: Rushton Hall
♥ Bride’s dress: Maggie Sottero
♥ Bridesmaids dresses: Coast
♥ Hair & Make-Up: Jenny Buckland for Beauty Call
♥ Car: Bridal Carriages Northampton
Thank you Ian and Kristy for choosing me to share your day. It was an amazing day and a pleasure to photograph.

Engagement photos at Chicheley Hall | Paul & Helena
Paul and Helena live and work in Bangkok and have been planning their wedding from afar. So we met for the frst time just last week for their pre-wedding shoot and I’ll be photographing their wedding this weekend.
Paul and Helena were nervous about the shoot but happy to go with the flow and just enjoy being with each other. We had lots of fun creating some different looks. They rock a pose and I love how in love they look in the more relaxed photos.
These photographs were taken in the grounds of Chicheley Hall, which is the venue for their reception. It’s a venue I’ve worked at many times but this will be my first wedding there so I’m really looking forward to it.
