‘Frock-On’ fashion shoot at a ruined country house

Wendy had a REALLY rainy day for her wedding last June and the powers that be must have been having a right laugh at the torrential rain on the morning of her post-wedding ‘Frock-On’ fashion shoot. The rain battered the car all the way to my secret location. We decided to have lunch early to see if the skies cleared up, which of course was entertaining in itself since Wendy was in a pub having lunch in her wedding dress, as you do! Somebody must have taken pity because by the time we’d had lunch the rain had stopped and the sun was out, hoorah!

Toni worked her magic with Wendy’s hair and make-up. We wanted to go for a completely different look to the wedding day and decided on a loose up-do that was full of glamour.

The great thing about a post-wedding shoot is that it’s all about being creative. The pace is much slower than a wedding or portrait session and it’s more akin to a big production fashion shoot with attentive styling, hair and make-up adjustments throughout. Styling and posing is very fashion influenced and whilst some of the poses are fairly uncompromising, they look simply fabulous. It takes some trust in your photographer to climb high up on a wall in your wedding dress but the end results are totally worth it!

More fun on the farm

How much fun did I have with two farm shoots in one week?!

This particular one was a bridal fashion shoot at Cripwell Farm in Leicestershire. Abbie was an awesome model (mainly because she was so patient with some of my crazier ideas; like climbing several hay bales high where the light was just so, and waiting patiently for what seemed like hours for the perfect gust of wind/veil movement LOL) and I was blown away that this was her first time modelling. Abbie – you were a star!

We had four seasons in one shoot – pouring rain, bright sunshine, cloudy skies and blustery winds, so made creative use of all that and I was truly spoilt with the barns, corrugated metal backgrounds, peeling paint and wide open fields.

Here are some favourites. You can see the rest on facebook.

Sam & Ruth’s ‘I do redo’

I had the pleasure of taking some ‘post-wedding’ wedding photographs for Sam and Ruth last weekend. Sam and Ruth got married in Serengetti earlier this year and decided to have some celebratory photographs taken at Packwood House. Packwood is noted for its unbelievable topiary. The huge ’standing figures’ are traditionally understood to represent the Sermon on the Mount, with the Master on the summit of the mound and the 12 Apostles & four Evangelists below and the assembled Multitude on the lawn. I’m glad I don’t have to keep them in shape! Anyway, here are some my fave shots of Ruth & Sam…
