When Katie asked if she could do a photo session with her horse Preacher, in her wedding dress, it took me all of 2 seconds to agree.

Preacher is an important part of Katie’s life and so she wanted to include him in her wedding in some way. A photo shoot after the wedding seemed the best option for timings and logisitics so one beautiful Autumnal Sunday morning we headed off to Holdenby House, with an unsuspecting Preacher.

We started in the Autumn leaves to get into the shoot and to see how Preacher would react. He was incredibly patient and happy to stand still while we got these lovely portraits. What you can’t see is Sian behind me rustling and throwing a packet of crisps high in the air to get him looking in the direction I wanted!

We then worked up to Katie riding Preacher side-saddle through the iconic Holdenby arches. At this point wearing Patey and riding boots…

Not only is Tracey an amazing designer but she’s an all-round lovely person too. We only met recently but have since made up for lost time and decided to head out to the woods of Delapre Abbey for a post-wedding fashion shoot. Tracey was so excited to wear her dress again, I thought she might actually burst!

I asked Toni to create a couture fashion look for Tracey. I wanted something strong to suit the gritty backgrounds and fashion editorial style photos I had in mind. So she whipped up a very glam mohican. Love it!

We did the shoot just a week after her honeymoon so that she would have a lovely tan for the day and to make the most of the last few days of mild weather. As it turned out we were blessed with the most beautiful sunny day. The light was all-out gorgeous with the sun soft, golden and low in the sky (sorry, geeky photographer moment over!). It couldn’t have been more beautiful.

There’s lots of space at Holkham beach and we were able to find some quiet spots away from the tourists and dog walkers. We shot from mid afternoon until sunset, when we had to do a quick run to avoid being stranded on a sand dune by the tide coming in!

I kept the backgrounds quite simple, just using the long grasses and sand dunes for texture, so that all the attention was on Amy and her dress. I think she looks fierce!

Toni worked her magic with Wendy’s hair and make-up. We wanted to go for a completely different look to the wedding day and decided on a loose up-do that was full of glamour.

The great thing about a post-wedding shoot is that it’s all about being creative. The pace is much slower than a wedding or portrait session and it’s more akin to a big production fashion shoot with attentive styling, hair and make-up adjustments throughout. Styling and posing is very fashion influenced and whilst some of the poses are fairly uncompromising, they look simply fabulous. It takes some trust in your photographer to climb high up on a wall in your wedding dress but the end results are totally worth it!

This particular one was a bridal fashion shoot at Cripwell Farm in Leicestershire. Abbie was an awesome model (mainly because she was so patient with some of my crazier ideas; like climbing several hay bales high where the light was just so, and waiting patiently for what seemed like hours for the perfect gust of wind/veil movement LOL) and I was blown away that this was her first time modelling. Abbie – you were a star!

We had four seasons in one shoot – pouring rain, bright sunshine, cloudy skies and blustery winds, so made creative use of all that and I was truly spoilt with the barns, corrugated metal backgrounds, peeling paint and wide open fields.
