Taryn’s post-wedding shoot on the beach
All this lovely sunny weather we’ve had lately has been making me dream about being on the beach! I’ve spent many smile-filled days on the beaches of North Norfolk with my two pups, Daisy and Poppy, chasing after tennis balls and splashing about in the sea, followed by latte and coffee cake for me and doggie ice creams for them. It’s my happy place. So when Taryn said she fancied doing a post-wedding shoot in her dress on the beach at Wells Next The Sea I was totally delighted and immediately planned a few days away! Taryn got engaged (to Olly) just down the road on the beach at Holkham and they often visit with their three gorgeous girls, so it holds a special place in her heart too.
We arrived in Wells to beautiful sunshine. As did the rest of the UK, it seemed! Luckily we bagsied parking spaces early. We planned to do hair and make-up during the afternoon so we could head to the beach and start shooting as the sun softened. But we soon felt less smug about our logistical skills as torrential rain set in for the afternoon. But, we were assured by a local (who handily happened to be a meteorologist) that the rain would pass within a couple of hours. It didn’t look likely but sure enough, as we arrived at the beach around 4 pm, the sun was shining again. The really great thing about that little turn of events was that everyone left the beach when it started raining and it was late enough in the day that they didn’t return. So we had all those golden sands almost to ourselves; which is perfect when you’re in a wedding dress on a beach and therefore highly likely to attract attention!
We had a super time taking photos amongst the beach huts, in the sand dunes and by the water. Taryn’s dress is very soft and pretty so we kept a natural, gently posed look to the photos with lots of swishing and looking away from the camera.
Alison Jenner did Taryn’s hair. Beach waves with lots of volume were a must and there’s a loose plait in it to keep it modern. Alison also did Taryn’s make-up with a natural barely-there look but kept it striking with long lashes and soft peach lips.
So onto some faves…
