Chicheley Hall wedding photos | John & Rebecca

July 6, 2012

John and Rebecca got married on the Jubilee weekend so as well as being as elegant and stylish as their wedding was always destined to be, there were subtle British nuances as well. Helen and I had such a brilliant time sharing and capturing their day.

John and Rebecca had a civil ceremony as well as their reception at Chicheley Hall, one of our regular venues. It seemed only right to get a picture of the Union Jack…

We enjoy getting to know our couples in the lead up to their wedding and like to get as much information as we can about their day, what they’ve planned and what’s important to them. That helps us to photograph their wedding in a very personalised way. One of the things John and Rebecca had told us about was their favourite books – which made a great prop for a photo of their rings…

Vera Wang. Louboutins. Jo Malone. Sigh.

John and Rebecca asked for their wedding photography to look very relaxed. So together we decided to do something a little different to the usual ‘line of people’ for their individual and bridal party portraits…

John’s watch is to him as the Louboutins are to Rebecca, so this photo was a must…

John and Rebecca chose a simple, elegant cream and white colour scheme which worked perfectly with the decor at Chicheley Hall. I would always recommend working with your venue with regards to colours – it will show your venue off at its best and look great in your photos when everything is coordinated.

I really enjoy capturing the hustle and bustle as Ushers are showing a couple’s friends and family to their seats. There’s always such a nervous, exciting atmosphere.

The staircase at Chicheley Hall makes for a very grand entrance…

The ceremony was in the Grand Hall which is overlooked by a balcony. My second photographer, Helen, shot from above and from the back of the room giving a completely different point of view to my more intimate photos from the front.

I’m right there with my couple and it’s the strong rapport that we’ve built up in the planning process before the wedding that allows me to work in such close proximity during moments like this. It’s a real honour to share; I feel as though I’m getting married with them!

Love the architecture of the Grand Hall…

Very British afternoon tea canapes were served during the drinks reception. Absolutely loved the champagne saucers.

A lot of attention, and rightly so, is on the couple and the VIPs in wedding photos. But I like to capture the other guests too, enjoying the drinks reception for example…

The grounds of Chicheley Hall are just stunning, even on a day where it might rain at any moment…

The leading men and ladies…

Oh that staircase…

The wedding breakfast set-up was another visual treat with cork escort cards (someone drank a lot of wine!), cream/white colours and framed menus and table numbers…

What could be more appropriate for a Jubilee weekend dinner than fish & chips followed by a red, white & blue trio of desserts?

What a wonderful time we had!

We were made to feel really welcome by John and Rebecca’s family and friends so thank you to all of them. And thank you especially to John and Rebecca for choosing us as your wedding photographers. We had such a great time working with you. And thank you for the fish and chips too – we could not have been happier tucking into that!
