Donna’s Post-Wedding Shoot at Manor Farm
One of my favourite ideas for a post-wedding shoot location
…is to pick somewhere that you wouldn’t expect to see someone in a wedding dress. The juxtaposition of a beautiful gown against a venue that’s not so obviously photogenic makes a really striking scene. And the farm where I’m based fits that bill rather nicely! It has a small wooded area, some gorgeous stone walls and beautiful fields but we skipped those and headed straight for the hay bales, barns, tractors and piles of forgotten old tyres! This is a shoot where you can keep it classic or push the boundaries a bit.
Donna’s dress is by Justin Alexander; it had a really pretty and unusual lace which contrasted brilliantly with the rustic location. The super-talented Alison Jenner did Donna’s hair and make-up (she’s one of my faves and I highly recommend her!). Because of the strong backgrounds, she chose a muted but bold berry lip which really popped against the dark barns and bright machinery. Donna’s hair is a gorgeous auburn colour and the loose plait showed off the tones beautifully.
And here’s what Donna thought…
“The wedding day was so busy, so it was lovely to put my dress back on again. It’s a great idea to get photos you may not have gotten on the day. My favourite thing about the shoot was how relaxed the session was. I don’t think I am particularly photogenic, but Sarah did an amazing job and really made me feel at ease! The photos are amazing!!! and were exquisitely presented. I have some beautiful pictures that show my dress off and that I will treasure forever.” Donna Gentle
