Kelmarsh Hall wedding photography

Your elegant home away from home is calling

When I’m shooting a wedding at Kelmarsh Hall, one of my favourite moments of the day is when everyone has sat down for dinner and I down tools for a moment.

I sink into one of their huge, squishy sofas cleverly placed in front of the crackling fire, rest my head back and soak in the delicate plasterwork in the ceiling of the Great Hall. It’s like spending time at a beloved family member’s house … if that family member had the most incredible home you’ve ever seen.

Kelmarsh Hall is one of Northamptonshire’s hidden gems and is the ultimate venue for unique wedding photography.

Five reasons you’ll love Kelmarsh Hall for your wedding photography

  • 1 This stunning venue works just as well in cold or wet weather as it does on a gloriously hot summer’s day. The interior spaces couldn’t have been designed better for photos inside and every season has something special to offer outside.
  • 2 Incredible architecture with lots of interesting features that make for great talking points - and great backgrounds for documentary wedding photos!
  • 3 The walled garden, flower-lined paths and countryside views make breathtaking settings for pictures of the two of you.
  • 4 The cosy, relaxed atmosphere is sure to set you and your guests at ease, ensuring that everyone looks like they’re having a great time in your photos (‘cause they are!)
  • 5 All those beautiful big windows provide dreamy natural light and will be your wedding photographer’s BFF!

My experience at Kelmarsh Hall

Kelmarsh Hall is one of the first Northamptonshire wedding venues that I photographed at, and it’s been a firm favourite ever since! I’m very grateful to have been on their list of recommended suppliers for what feels like a lifetime.

I’m also thrilled to have collaborated with Kelmarsh many times, photographing their gardens through the seasons and covering the various events they hold. I was incredibly honoured to be one of the first to see their ‘below-stairs’ renovation and take photos for the launch of that too!

Katie & Tom

Katie and Tom had a classic church ceremony at St Katharine's in Houghton on the Hill before heading in a vintage wedding car to Kelmarsh Hall for a relaxed reception. My favourite bit? Food bank donations instead of favours. So thoughtful.

Fiona & Will

Fiona and Will's wedding was full of the joys of spring. Colourful, fun, relaxed ... and that's just the flowers. A family friend (handily also a registrar) led their ceremony, which was followed by lawn games in the sun. All topped off with a gorgeous golden hour and so much happiness.

Henny & Seb

Henny and Seb married in April. The grounds of Kelmarsh Hall burst to life in early spring with primroses, tulips, and fritillaries at every turn. So the gardens were super pretty - and the sun came out to celebrate too. What a pair of jammy dodgers!

Joanna & Matt

Joanna and Matt got married in the autumn and spent their entire day at Kelmarsh, making use of every inch of the Hall from getting ready to fireworks at the end of the night. But it was their adorable baby boy who stole the show by reaching out his hand to join theirs during the vows!

Kerry & James

Kerry and James had an early autumn wedding. Kerry got ready at Church Farm Lodge in Harrington while James enjoyed a pre-wedding pint at The Stag in Maidwell. They had a civil ceremony followed by a relaxed reception and dinner. Definitely check out the flowers in this one!

Sustainable Luxury

Elegant and earth-friendly

This shoot took its inspiration from Kelmarsh Hall's most famous owner, Nancy Lancaster. So you can expect to find elegant but relaxed and undone wedding styling ideas. And whilst luxurious, everything was created as mindfully as possible.

Rouge Romance

Classically romantic burgundy & blush

Does any flower symbolise love more than a red rose? But it's not just for Valentine's Day. A masterclass in creating layers and tactile texture, this shoot shows how a bold red can be transformed into something pretty for any season with pale pink and glamorous gold.

Spring style

Pale and interesting

A Spring/Summer edit - created in the autumn! Proving that you can have a light and airy look in the typically darker months. See a ceremony and banquet-style intimate dinner set-up in the Saloon. And a large dinner set-up in the ballroom.

Winter Vibes

Candle-lit and cosy

After a wintery or festive feel without the usual glitz? This feature is for you! Think rich reds, deep greens, all the berries, tumbling ivy, classic candelabra, bold stationery, mirrored accents reflecting the candlelight ... This look is a wonderful combination of tradition and nature.

Bridgerton Blues

Crowd-pleasing elegance

Inspired by Bridgerton, this editorial is full of regency blue details. There's an outdoor dinner table and wedding cake inspiration, but if that's not your thing, it'd work just as beautifully indoors. Look out for the handwritten calligraphy quotes on the flower ribbons!

Psst! Did you know *this* about Kelmarsh Hall?

  • 1 The gold dust jars in the Chinese Room were commandeered by Lord Admiral Nelson in 1740.
  • 2 There are over a dozen rooms ‘below stairs’ – including a bake room, brushing room and a wine cellar.
  • 3 There's a deserted medieval village underneath the parkland in front of the church - which is now home to a pedigree herd of British White cattle.
  • 4 The walled garden is home to over 100 varieties of dahlia – a spectacular sight for September weddings.
  • 5 Kelmarsh’s most well-known resident – Nancy Lancaster – lived at Kelmarsh Hall twice. First, as Nancy Tree and later as Nancy Lancaster (after marrying her former landlord).
