John & Jo’s spring wedding at Kelmarsh Hall
John and Jo had the most beautiful Spring day for their wedding at Kelmarsh Hall last month. A little chilly but very bright & sunny. As were their smiles. Bright and sunny that is! Alllll day! They’re such a lovely couple and it was wonderful to share in their happiness.
John got ready with his Best Man at the Travel Lodge in Market Harborough, just a few metres from where Jo was having her hair and make-up done. So I was able to capture some of John’s preparations as well as Jo’s.
The bedroom was a small, dark, no-frills space. I loved the challenge of making it look good! There’s beauty in everything – you just need to see it and isolate it from the less attractive elements.
And there was a very stylish Ted Baker suit and a pair of Churches shoes (in honour of John’s Grandad who used to work there) waiting for me to photograph when I arrived!
Jo and her Bridesmaids had their hair and make-up done at Browns in Market Harborough and then headed back to Jo’s parents’ house to get dressed.
John & Jo had a civil wedding ceremony and reception at one of my favourite Northampton wedding venues, Kelmarsh Hall.
John and Jo put so much time into planning the decor for their day. They chose a vintage style with lots of personal little touches.
The old suitcase which was fashioned into a table plan belonged to Jo’s Grandfather. He met Jo’s Grandmother during the war and love blossomed. This is the suitcase he carried when he travelled back home after the war to be with her. It even has the original travel sticker on it which is stamped with the date he travelled back! How beautiful is that for romantic nostalgia?
The table centres were mis-matched old bottles filled with flowers. Lots of the bottles were medicinal ones reflecting Jo’s career as a doctor.
It was Grand National Day and John’s family have a tradition of betting with smarties. So smarties were put on each table and the race streamed live so everyone could enjoy a flutter.
In John & Jo’s words…
“We both wanted to say a huge thank you for being our wedding photographer and giving us such special lasting memories of our big day!
“We have just looked through our album and are so thrilled with it! You have captured the spirit of the day so perfectly and it really feels like we’re reliving the excitement and emotions every time we turn the pages.
“From start to finish you have been totally fantastic and your brilliant organisation meant that we felt confident that all would run smoothly on the day.
“So many of our guests have commented on how amazing you were – making everyone feel so relaxed, yet capturing everything!
“You have such a brilliant eye for detail and made all of our little personal touches look more beautiful than we could have imagined!
“Thank you so much, lots of love,“
Jo and John Kendell
