Luxury rustic wedding tipi at Kelmarsh Hall

October 16, 2018

Tipis are my current favourite thing!

In fact, I’m currently trying to find an excuse for a tipi party!

So I was thrilled when Nadine at Tepees & Tents asked me to do another shoot for her. (You can see the first one in this post.) Nadine also owns Nerissa Eve Weddings, a styling company, so everything she does is exquisitely beautiful and with incredible attention to detail.

This time we were in the grounds of Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire, overlooking the village church and fields of British White cattle.

There’s something quite special about tipis – the quirky shapes and the warm natural colours that make it look at home in the landscape. But the main reason I love tipis so much is that they have the potential to transport you to another world. Step foot inside a tipi and in childlike wonder you start imagining that you’re in another land as you take in the sights, sounds and smells.

With good creative styling (ie book the brilliant Tepees and Tents / Nerissa Eve combo!) a tipi will take you anywhere you want to go! The Amazon jungle, the rice fields of Vietnam, lavender fields in Provence, a South African safari …

For this shoot, Nadine and her dream team (credits at the end) created a lavish, rustic but elegant oasis using simple greens and lots of modern textures and materials. Every part of the tipi was carefully considered and included an oversize (well, perfectly scaled IMO!) foliage hoop over the bar, statement hanging florals over the top table and a dessert table which was a feast for all the senses (such torture to photograph!). Tres chic and perfect for a classic and relaxed outdoor wedding.

As dusk fell, the candlelight made the tipi look even more magical. And each time you thought it couldn’t get any better it would get a bit darker outside and the abundant candlelight would glow even warmer making everything feel even more romantic.

A tipi becomes even more magical as dusk falls …

As long as you cram it with candles and fairy-lights, of course!

**Chuffed moment alert**

Nadine sent me the loveliest words when she saw the photos:

“Sarah, sooooo beautiful! I kept whooping, there’s these little excited whoops coming from the end of the dining room!
Apologies in advance for all the pings from notifications, will be getting some mileage out of these. Its so nice, we’ve only had the teepees for 4 months and already the gallery of pictures are amazing. That’s so important to me …  Just about to make my favourite pic my insta story, my eyes actually filled up with pic 1163! Your pictures are so crisp and the colours are so warm. Thank you so much.”
