Pre-wedding shoot | Tom & Jo

November 11, 2014

All you need to bring to a pre-wedding shoot is the love and an open mind. Tom & Jo did pretty well at that. Like most couples they had never had professional photos taken and were a bit nervous before we started but they soon eased into it and just enjoyed the moment.

As always I had a rough plan in mind but a framework rather than a rigid list. Allowing time to be spontaneous, to go with the flow, to fully explore and see where things lead so often results in the best shots. Tom & Jo’s absolute favourites from their shoot, and mine, were unplanned ones when the sun suddenly came out. We abandoned what we were doing and worked quickly to take advantage of the low autumnal light before it disappeared just as quickly as it came out. Wedding day plans are the same – it’s good to be open-minded and allow time for the magic to happen.

Tom & Jo are getting married at The Sculpture Gallery at Woburn on the first weekend of January. So that’ll be good to work off the excesses of Christmas and blast away the new year blues! Really looking forward to being back at Woburn; it’s a great venue for winter wedding photography.
