Simon & Joanne’s autumn wedding at Rushton Hall
Simon and Joanne had the perfect sunny autumn day for their wedding at Rushton Hall, which is our most popular venue for wedding photography in Northampton. We love it there; it’s always fabulous and has enough scope for us to make the photos different for every client.
One of the things I love most about Rushton Hall is its amazing architecture and interior design. I think it’s important to show that off and bring a sense of place to the wedding photography. The Adam Suite had some fabulous features to work with for Joanne’s getting ready photos…
The civil ceremony took place in The Drawing Room.
My favourite part of a wedding ceremony is actually the build up to it, with the guests taking their seats, the Groom waiting nervously and then the Bride’s entrance.
I had the lovely Abby working with me so whilst I was tucked away in the bay window looking towards Joanne, Abby was on the other side of the room behind the Registrar facing Simon. I love the double point of view that two wedding photographers can achieve.
After the ceremony all the guests headed out into the courtyard for drinks.
Alan (brilliantly brilliant toastmaster) and I had made plans earlier in the day for the photo of everyone so we knew exactly how we’d make this happen quickly. This meant I could concentrate on the actual picture taking while Alan gathered people where I needed them.
There are a few iconic Rushton spots for portraits, the front entrance and the lake for example, so we’ve developed signature photos which are often requested and which we never tire of doing. Alongside those we will always try and create something new and unique for each client too. For Simon and Joanne it was the autumn leaves to bring the season into the photos.
Dinner was in the Library. Abby and I filled our boots during the speeches. They were very funny and heartfelt too. So lots of great expressions for us to capture.
Priceless moments at the bar while waiting for the first dance…
And the first dance. I love all of Simon and Joanne’s guests looking on.
Simon and Joanne wore their hearts on their sleeves all day and didn’t stop smiling (except for a few happy tears!). It made our job easy and we loved sharing every minute. It’s going to be an album full of emotion for sure.
