Jim & Kaitlyn’s July wedding at Rushton Hall

September 19, 2012

Jim and Kaitlyn’s wedding was planned impeccably. In fact, Kaitlyn would make a brilliant wedding planner! And it was the pure perfection in the organisation that meant they enjoyed their day to the full. As did Georgi and I.

The day started in the Oak Suite at Rushton Hall. It’s my favourite of all the suites! The wood panelling is gorgeous and gives a very rich look to photographs.

The ceremony took place in the Drawing Room. I love the intimacy of photographs from the front of a ceremony room because you can capture all the expression and emotion. It’s plain to see how happy and in love these two are.

The Courtyard is a brilliant space to enjoy a drinks reception…

The biggest challenge with wedding photography at Rushton Hall is narrowing down the spots to use for portraits. I think a mix of romantic photos in the grounds, by the lake especially, and some more styled pictures which show off the architecture, works well to make the most of the venue.

Jim and Kaitlyn had their wedding breakfast in the Pavillion and had a drape behind the top table to hide the air con units on the wall. A really good idea and makes a huge difference in photographs.

Toastmaster Alan Cockayne loves wedding traditions from around the world. I forget which country this tradition is from (sorry Alan!) but it’s a drinking game where the winner is said to become the master of the household. It was so much fun to see a little competitive spirit!

An age old tradition but one we don’t see very often for some reason. I love this sequence of the girls jostling for space and the Olympic effort and fun expressions from the resulting winner. It’s a serious sport this!

Jim and Kaitlyn surprised and wowed all their guests with a choreographed first dance. They did brilliantly! And those pink and purple lights (provided by the band) were a perfect way to make the low ceiling of the Pavillion a feature rather than something to try and avoid showing in photographs.
