David & Natalie’s black & white marquee wedding at Pipewell Hall
David and Natalie had a gloriously hot sunny day for their wedding. I even caught the sun! Georgi and I were melting working in the heat but it’s lovely to have a job where we can be outside and enjoy the sun. It’s not often we get it after all!
The girls got ready in The Gate Lodge at Pipewell Hall, which is a self-contained cottage, stylishly but neutrally decorated, with lots of space for doing hair and make-up.
The ceremony was at Holy Trinity Church in Rothwell. The Vicar’s house rules for photography were very relaxed. Refreshingly we were able to photograph the entire ceremony for David and Natalie; the signing of the register included. And with the church being so spacious we had great viewpoints.
The reception was at Pipewell Hall. The grounds there are the perfect place to be on a sunny day.
Colour coordinated glasses and personalised stirrers for the drinks reception…
The marquee is set by the lake and looks out into the countryside, so David and Natalie chose to have clear walls to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.
David and Natalie styled their wedding with a black, white and blush colour scheme. Their stationery, inspired by Chanel, featured a monogram which was used on their invitations and carried through onto the paper items used on the day itself.
A mini top table for the children, with colour matched sweets. How cool is that?! I would totally have wanted to sit there as an adult guest!
I have a bit of a love affair with black and white for documentary wedding photography. It seems to work so well for speeches and evening photos, unifying all the colours being worn by guests and simplifying photos where the scene is cluttered.
A magician wowed everyone after dinner. I like to look beyond the obvious main action and spotted two boys playing under the present table. I remember doing the same myself at a wedding when I was small. Happy days.
Pleeeease may there be more dance floors like this? Can’t beat reflections!
Hugs and kisses to David and Natalie. We had a great time working with you. Thank you sooo very much for choosing us as your wedding photographers. We’re glad you had such a beautiful sunny day, though I’m sure the weather wouldn’t have dampened anyone’s spirits or fun xxx
