Rutland wedding venues
Looking for a wedding venue in Rutland?
Hoorah! Settle in for a bit and have a look at some of the Rutland wedding venues where I've had the pleasure of working.
Cards on the table: I'm a huge countryside lover.
Fresh air, birds singing, tranquil waterside walks (avec deux King Charles Cavalier mignons)... dreamy!
And what could be better than that?
Photographing a wedding surrounded by all that natural beauty! #doubleblessing
So I feel most lucky to be a wedding photographer based near Rutland - which means lots of stunning venues nestled amongst nature are just a short drive away.
And whilst Rutland may be England’s smallest county...
...it’s big on incredible history, pretty villages, and natural settings. So it’s little surprise that Rutland weddings tend to be some of the most chilled-out weddings I have the pleasure of capturing.
The serene surroundings make for a carefree atmosphere and that leads to wonderfully relaxed wedding photos where everyone looks like they’re having a great time.
From photos of your drinks reception with pretty rolling hills in the background, to knock-out pictures of the two of you on the shores of Rutland Water, and the setting sun drenching your guests in golden light as they giggle into the evening....
Come and explore some of my favourite Rutland wedding venues - and see what your photography could look like.

EXTON PARK
If you like a large side of nature with your country house, this could be your venue. The grounds of Exton offer everything you could imagine and more. There’s a sunken garden with a fountain, a lake, topiary, woodland, a river, parkland, follies, a ruin… And the hall looking on adds elegance and grandeur. And it’s the only venue I can think of that offers CofE, Catholic, and civil ceremony locations.
Best photo feature: The view across to the dovecote at golden hour
The Falcon, Uppingham
This 16th-century coaching inn turned country house hotel is right on the market square in Uppingham. There are rooms ideal for small weddings as well as larger celebrations, a superb courtyard for outdoor drinks, and plenty of bedrooms. You can even venture into the local lanes for quintessentially English pictures of the two of you. And the food? Always on the money!
Best photo feature: The light in the middle of the Garden Terrace - the best spot for you two during your speeches.
Normanton Church
Don’t be fooled by the name - this is a civil ceremony venue. And if you love the outdoors or just want to make nature a big part of your day, pop this on your shortlist because it’s literally (no exaggeration) on Rutland Water. You can’t have a reception here but it is possible to enjoy a drinks reception outside by the water’s edge, and there are plenty of local reception venues close by - like the ones on this page!
Best photo feature: The views. Definitely the views. Did I say the views?
Rutland Hall Hotel
The clues are in the name: this is a hotel with history and insane views of Rutland Water. You’ll have comfort, luxury, and relaxation all in one. There’s a spa - and every outdoor activity you can imagine on Rutland Water - so never mind a weekend of celebrations, you can make it a week! But don’t worry: although this is a popular hotel and restaurant, there’s an exclusive-use reception area so you can party privately. You can even get married outside overlooking the water.

Is your venue not listed here?No sweat!
If your wedding venue isn’t here, send me an email with the name of your venue and I’ll send you some similar weddings to look at.
I’ve been a wedding photographer for nearly 15 years but still regularly work at new places. I’m used to quickly working out how to make venues shine in photos. And the best thing about that? It keeps my work fresh so your photos will be unique.
