Ryan & Laura’s Spring wedding at The Sculpture Gallery, Woburn

June 15, 2012

Ryan and Laura are just the most adorable couple and their wedding was all kinds of fun. Tracy and I had the best time photographing their day. It was our first wedding at The Sculpture Gallery at Woburn Abbey and it was an absolute delight to work there.

Our day started with Laura getting ready. I let out a little squeal when I saw Laura’s shoes!

The ceremony was at Biddenham church in Bedford which is very much the quintessential English village church…

The arrival of the Bride is the moment that my heart starts to pound. As a wedding photographer, it’s probably the most significant moment of any wedding day. It’s always special. So full of excitement, nerves and anticipation. Ryan is a real life superhero and works for the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, so they had a Guard of Honour to welcome Laura to the church.

I smiled during the first hymn, ‘Morning Has Broken’, when Laura shouted out “all together now” just before the chorus! It really set the tone for the day. Loved that! Also loved Laura and her bridesmaids dancing along to ‘Lord of the Dance’ at the high altar!

The reception was at The Sculpture Gallery, at Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire. I really wanted a photo of the deer park as it’s iconic Woburn but there are no stopping signs everywhere! I did a little negotiating and the brilliant team at Woburn made it happen. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to get 6 deer looking at me. Group photos are usually hard!

The speeches are another part of the day which I always feel very honoured to share. Today’s were particularly emotional. But not without a few laughs and ‘head in hands’ moments!

This is one of my all-time favourite photos. At the end of the first dance Ryan dipped Laura (to the point where she was almost doubled over!). How fun thought I. And then Laura’s bridesmaid reached out and patted Ryan on the head.
