The complete story
Kelmarsh Hall is up there with my dreamiest venues. In April, its famous gardens come alive – tulips in bloom, rare fritillaries peeking through the grass, birds filling the air with springtime song. So Henny and Seb’s wedding was a delight. Prepare yourself for serious garden envy!
“We are absolutely thrilled by the photos; they capture our special day perfectly and we can’t wait to start ordering prints! Thank you so much for all your guidance and help both on the lead-up and on the day itself, you made the whole process stress-free and seamless. And the photos are proof that you are an exceptional photographer. We will not hesitate to recommend you.”
Henny & Seb
The preparations
The Bridal Suite was a happy little hive of excitement and anticipation as Henny and her bridesmaids got ready for the day ahead. Henny’s favourite Jo Malone candle was gently flickering away, filling the room with the scent of bluebells – a calm little signature ritual to start the day.
Henny’s dress was a vision – an illusion back, a sweeping train, and lace that reminded me of the plasterwork detail in The Great Hall and Saloon, like they were made to go together.
Meanwhile, Seb and his groomsmen were in the Great Hall, greeting guests and wrestling with buttonholes!
The ceremony
Soft greens, dove greys, and the prettiest pastel florals set a calm, joyful tone. And with The Saloon’s sage green walls and the peachy tones of the Great Hall it felt like being in a watercolour painting.
Just married and glowing, Henny and Seb paused beneath the chandelier (like a sparkly spotlight but without the harsh shadows!) for a theatrical kiss that sealed their ceremony and kicked off the celebration.
Then it was time to step into a confetti cloud of colour and joy (most of which ended up in Seb’s hair!).
The drinks reception
Everyone sipped drinks in the courtyard, catching up, clinking glasses, and soaking up the sunshine. Outdoor drinks in April – marvellous!
The portraits
As their guests took their seats for the wedding breakfast, Henny and Seb wandered through the gardens, soaking up the sunshine, admiring the tulips, and enjoying a little time together in the stillness of the gardens. It was an ideal little pocket of time for some relaxed portraits without them missing out on anything.
The evening
The Ballroom looked so stunning with round tables draped with sage green runners, flowers tumbling from the fireplace, and that lovely mix of elegance and warmth that Kelmarsh does so well. Everyone was suitably entertained throughout the speeches – and if they needed reminders to laugh, the bridesmaids had that covered!
After dinner, while their guests played boules and giant Jenga (with varying degrees of competitiveness), golden hour arrived with the kind of light you just feel in your bones. And it would have been rude not use Mother Nature’s magic for some relaxed, romantic pictures of Henny and Seb!
Then it was cake o’clock. Arguably the best kind of clock. It was a three-tiered beauty, taste-tested right there and then! They took to the floor for their first dance and kicked off an evening of partying with their friends and family. What a location, what incredible weather, and what a day for Henny and Seb’s wedding!
One glorious venue. Two beautiful souls. And a spring day that felt like a deep, happy sigh.
