Kate & Martin’s glamorous 1920s-themed wedding
When an interior designer bride unleashes their creative flair on a 1920s-themed winter wedding, you know it’s going to be something! And being one of the first weddings of the post-Covid era, the celebration was as victorious as it was glam. Yep, it definitely felt reminiscent of the 1920s. And if the party atmosphere isn’t enough of a clue to the theme, then the guests’ era-inspired outfits will leave you in no doubt. So get ready to be transported to a bygone era of glitz and glamour!
Kate and Martin planned a glamorous ‘roaring 20s’ winter wedding at St Michael’s church in Silverstone and had their reception at Plum Park Manor.
A morning getting ready with human and furry best friends
Kate spent a leisurely morning enjoying a champagne brunch before getting ready with her bridesmaids. There were plenty of giggles as they quizzed Kate ‘Mr and Mrs’ style. And lots of doggo cuddles (yep, me too, can’t resist!). Meanwhile, Martin and his groomsmen retreated to a hotel to take on the DIY bow tie challenge (they passed with flying colours!) before heading to the church.
Cue candlelight and confetti
Kate and Martin tied the knot in a classic church ceremony at Silverstone church in Northamptonshire. And let me tell you, it’s absolutely gorgeous! It has the most stunning stained glass windows, a cute bell tower, and amazing stonework. You won’t find a more charming spot to say “I do”. And it was quite the scene as Kate and Martin’s guests arrived in flapper dresses and classic tuxedos! The colours and textures looked a dream! The confetti walkway was another absolute scene. If you’ve ever wondered how to get great confetti photos … take a lesson from Kate and the lavish 1920s, and fill big baskets to the brim!
A relaxed and sparkly celebration
Kate and Martin chose Plum Park Manor for their wedding reception. Plum Park is a privately-owned Victorian country manor house. It’s easy to find on the A5 just outside of Towcester in Northamptonshire (so no excuses for lost guests!). It’s a family home so it has a really warm intimate atmosphere and is super relaxed. Everyone looked like they were having an absolute ball – which was great for the photography.
A particular highlight at Plum Park is the entrance hall. This was a great space with good light (thumbs up from the photographer!) for an indoor drinks reception. Kate and Martin also used this spot for their speeches. The speakers stood on the staircase while everyone else gathered around below. Kate and Martin’s joint speech was a genius idea and I loved capturing that.
Dinner was a glamorous affair in Plum Park’s marquee, which was dramatically-draped with a navy and gold star lining by The Raj Tent Club. Table lamp centrepieces gave the room a warm golden glow and set the stage for a Morrocan feast.
And, of course, no 1920s-themed wedding would be complete without delicious cake, an outfit change, and a jazz band to party the night away!
