Rob & Ali’s autumn wedding at Notley Abbey

October 30, 2008

Rob & Ali got married at Notley Abbey in Oxfordshire. It’s an incredible venue and full of romance having once been the marital home of Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh. I really loved how it’s old and characterful but modern as well.

Ali’s Mum made the place-cards into beautiful works of art with rosemary and wired beads. Ali’s Irish descendence was celebrated with a limerick writing competition, Irish lace handkerchief favours for the girls and Irish whisky for the boys.

Rob and Ali had been really nervous about their first dance during the day, not least because they had only rehearsed in jeans!

Rob sings in a band and had written a song for Ali. It was a complete surprise when he took the mic and started serenading her.

Are you getting married at Notley Abbey?

If that’s a “yassss”, we should talk!

But before we do, click to find out why I think Notley Abbey is so great for wedding photography. You can see some more weddings I’ve shot at Notley on that page too. And if you’d like to receive a copy of my brochure or chat in person, then get in touch whenever you’re ready!
